Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Nancy Castelein
Mrs. Castelein grew up in the suburbs of Chicago; graduating from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Education. Having spent every summer in the Lake Geneva area she began her career at Reek Elementary. At Reek School she has taught fourth and fifth grade.
Summer months are her favorite because she can be active at the lake. Her love is swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding. She also likes to read and take long walks.
She earned her master’s degree in K- 5 Mathematics from Walden University. It was an exciting time to dig deeper into mathematic foundations and perspective. The effective teaching of mathematics combines an understanding of how children learn, promotes the use of problem solving, and plans for and assess learning on a daily basis.
Philosophy of Education: "I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential. Each year I begin our journey by reading Leo the Late Bloomer by Robert Kraus to my students. I continue throughout the year to reinforce and reflect on the growth of all students. I believe I can help students to reach their greatest potential by providing an environment that is safe, supportive of risk-taking, and open to the sharing of ideas.”
Chinese Proverb....Be not afraid of growing slowly; Be afraid only of standing still.
