Hello there. My name is Craig Matthiesen, and I have been teaching physical education at Reek for the last twelve years. I have also been involved with Reek school's basketball and track teams for the last twelve years.
I was born and raised in Wisconsin and have lived in Elkhorn nearly my whole life. I have been married for fourteen years to my wife Janelle. My wife is also a teacher, and she teaches second grade in Lake Geneva. I have two children, Max who is in seventh grade, and Ally who is in fifth grade.
My love for sports influenced me to get my Physical Education degree. My first two years of college were at Carthage College in Kenosha. There, I was on the basketball team and ran track. In track, I ran the hurdles and was a guard on the basketball team. After my first couple of years at Carthage, I transferred to UW- Whitewater where I received my degree. After college I had several long-term sub jobs before landing here at Reek.
For fifteen years, mainly summers, I poured concrete. I worked for a concrete company that poured sidewalks, driveways, basements, garages, and stoops. After concrete, I started hanging gutters, but after an unfortunate accident, going up and down ladders all day was not an option. Now my summers consist of many side construction jobs, and I look forward to setting aside time to golf and fish with family and friends.
